Overview
For more than 33 years we have been dedicated to teaching Spanish as a second language and the Mexican and Latin-American culture. Our method is directed towards the development of your ability to communicate in Spanish, especially within the Spanish-spoken world. From the very first day you will be able to immerse yourself in the language as well as the culture. In this way, you will become familiar with how we live, our beliefs, our history, our politics, our fiestas (and why we celebrate them) and much more regarding Mexican culture and social life.
Your program at Trio Schools begins with semi-personalized Spanish classes of no more than 5 students. But it doesn't end there! We also offer various extracurricular activities. These activities are optional, but they are designed to complement the cultural program and are highly recommended. These include charlas (informal talks) and conferences, round table discussions, songs and movies in Spanish, cooking classes, dance classes, coffee socials, excursions to cultural and historical sites and much more.
Trio Schools students are generally placed with different host families living in Cuernavaca whom, as a part of the Trio School program, include their student guests in everyday Mexican activities. As a student, you are not just a client, but rather a member of the family. With your availability and preferences in mind, you are always invited to go shopping, attend family celebrations, receive suggestions on what to do in Cuernavaca or simply wander around town.
We also receive groups of students, for which we provide tailored language and cultural programs, depending on individual needs and preferences. Simply contact an Trio Schools representative to discuss your particular needs.

Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.  1. It is possible to receive academic credit. Trio Schools does not offer credit directly, but almost all colleges and universities grant academic credit for studies with us. Ask whether your college or university accepts studies at any one of Trio Schools and what their prerequisites are. Usually, inquiries should be directed to the department of Admissions, Foreign Language, or Study Abroad. For our part, we will be glad to help you obtain credit by sending your school any documentation it may need, such as syllabi, study plans, academic reports, transcripts, etc. We do not charge extra for doing this, but Trio Schools has requirements for academic achievement and attendance that will determine your grades in Spanish. Students of Texas State University – San Marcos, Johns Hopkins University, and Eastern Washington University can receive credits for their studies with us due to previous agreements. Ask for information before your trip to Mexico.
