Overview
Founded in 1968, Universitat Auṭnoma de Barcelona was established in a climate of dramatic student activism and aims to uphold four principles of autonomy: freedom to select teaching staff, admission available to all students, freedom to create its own study plans, and freedom to administrate the university's capital. UAB has moved forward at a rapid pace in its short history and is a leader in education and research, cooperating with universities and international organizations on five continents. Students can take courses in a variety of disciplines, including economics, international business and marketing, history, humanities, and of course, Spanish.

Eligibility
Minimum 18 years of age and currently enrolled at a college or university in the U.S. or Canada. Minimum 3.0 GPA; at least one semester of college-level Spanish is recommended.

Include: The program fee includes pre-departure information, university tuition and course enrollment, an official transcript or certificate of completion issued by an accredited foreign university, host university services, housing in shared student apartments, cultural immersion events, opportunities for volunteering and internships upon arrival, excursions, international mobile telephones, Onsite Program Directors, a GSE Onsite Office in Barcelona, introductory local transportation passes, mandatory health insurance coverage, arrival orientation, arrival and departure receptions, reentry support, and post-program evaluation.

Students participating with GSE in Barcelona can apply for a scholarship up to $1,000 for the semester or year-long program at UAB. Summer scholarships for $250 are also available for the 5-week summer Spanish language studies program.
