The city of Haifa is proud of its long-standing record of co-existence and mutual respect among the Jewish, Christian, Moslem, Bahai, and Druze communities. Reflecting and supporting this tradition, the University of Haifa is likewise a multicultural institution in which students benefit from many opportunities for productive interaction. We offer a one-month Summer Intensive Arabic Language Program in Modern Standard/Literary Arabic. This program is an introduction to Modern Standard Arabic and is designed for students with no prior knowledge of the Arabic language (we hope to offer more levels next summer). The course will cover the Arabic alphabet, grammar, reading, writing, pronunciation, translation as well as basic morphology and syntax of Modern Standard Arabic, including verb patterns. One day each week will be devoted to a field trip to visit locations of interest in Arabic-speaking communities in the northern parts of Israel. The Intensive Arabic Language Program offers a wide variety of social activities including trips, tours, lectures and cultural events and celebrations designed to enhance the students' language acquisition and cultural immersion. All courses in the International School are academically accredited in accordance with the standards and criteria of North American and European universities Housing/Accommodation • Dormitory Dorms are shared with Israeli roommates in order to enhance the cultural experience of the program.
