More than 140,000 students including 1,000 international students from 40 countries have graduated from MAI after its foundation in 1930. During the early 1930’s, MAI amounted to only 290 students in 2 schools. But now at the beginning of the twenty first century, our university of aerospace technologies consists of more than 1,700 professors and lectu-rers including both 300 full-professors (D.Sc) and 800 associate professors (Ph.D) who teach more than 20,000 undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students at 10 schools, 3 institutes, and 4 branches of the University. Our university includes among its alumni about 100 general and chief designers, 43 members and associate members of the Russian academy of science, 250 State and Government Prize laureates, and 21 cosmonauts who spent a total of 12 years in outer space.The present-day MAI is a unique institute of higher education where a thorough theoretical knowledge combines with various practical skills. More than 120 laboratories, 3 student design offices, numerous computer centers, an experimental-design factory, and an aerodrome are available for our students.In October 2009, the MAI was ranked among the 12 best universities of the Russian Federation. The rank of a “National research university of aeronautical and astronautical engineering” was conferred to our institute by decision of the Russian Government.The Moscow Aviation Institute is an advancing multiple-discipline academic and research center which provides students with the current-technology knowledge to rank as a qualified scientist and engineer all over the world. Dates Schedule for Application and Programs Application period from April, 01 to June, 30 Admission letters from July, 01 to July, 31 Student arrivals from August, 20 to August, 25 Academic year duration from September, 01 to July, 01 (two semesters with two examinations) Winter vacations from January, 24 to February, 06 To be matriculated to MAI the following documents are required: a) a legalized original of your educational certificate (it means with a stamp of the Ministry of Education of your country and with one of the Russian Consulate) and its notarized translations into Russian (three copies ); b) a medical certificate and its notary attested translation into Russian which confirms that the applicant has no narcotism, tuberculosis, lepra, Chlamidia lymphogranuloma (venereal), syphilis, chancroid, hepatitis, a negative AIDS-test, and vaccination against hepatitis, mumps, diphtheria, measles; d) 10 photos (3.5х4.5 cm). To execute an official invitation the following documents and information are required: 1. A scanned copy of the first page of your passport (to be sent to our email: rus@mai.ru ) 2. your private address, birth-place and telephone 3. the scheduled date of arrival 4. the city for your visa application (the nearest Russian Consulate in your country) A duly executed invitation will be sent to your home address. This invitation enables you to apply for an entrance visa.
