A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in more than 30 programs throughout the world. IES BERLIN offers classes at the renowned Humboldt Universität zu Berlin as well as IES courses taught exclusively in German by leading German faculty in intimate classroom settings. The IES Berlin Center is located within a 5-minute walk of Humboldt Universität, where German language courses are held and IES students can mingle with German students. IES Berlin incorporates field study into all of its courses, and strong academics are complemented by internship opportunities and field trips within Germany and Central and Eastern Europe as well as cultural activities around Berlin. As the cultural capital of reunified Germany, Berlin is both dynamic and vibrant. IES Berlin organizes a major field trip to a former East bloc state each semester, usually visiting East European capitals (Budapest, Zagreb, and Prague) in the fall, and Krakow and Warsaw in Poland in the spring. Several cultural events are arranged such as visits to the National Gallery, International Architectural Exhibit, and the Jewish community. Academic Credit Academic credit is available.  Students carry 15 to 19 semester credit hours.
