Overview
The Institute for Central American Development Studies, (ICADS) offers an interdisciplinary semester program in Costa Rica focusing on sustainable development from both natural science and socio-economic perspectives. Semester includes: Four weeks of intensive Spanish and urban issues, five weeks in the field in managed and natural ecosystems learning methodologies of field research in social and natural sciences (banana transnationals, traditional agriculture, community cooperatives; cloud forest and watershed management); five weeks of guided field research - working in rural communities. Homestays, small groups. Fall and Spring terms with full academic credit.
