Overview
The goals of the Community Public Health summer program are to provide students with an introduction to basic healthcare issues in a Hispanic Caribbean context and to increase their Spanish language ability to an advanced level. This is achieved through advanced Spanish conversation and grammar classes, coursework focusing on pre-professional healthcare issues, a community health practicum, and a homestay. In addition, there are excursions throughout the island, work in an urban community service project, and a one-week stay in a semi rural health clinic.
