Overview
Westminster has always been an international institution, receiving students from all over the world. Two primary attractions to Westminster have been its historical role as a leader in innovation and its location in central London. Participants will attend the same classes, live in the same housing, and participate in the same social, cultural, athletic, and academic extracurricular activities as their British counterparts in central London. Fields of study include art and design, business, bio-sciences, history, humanities, languages, law, literature, music and social sciences. A three-week Christmas vacation bisects the fall semester, with a similar lenghth Easter vacation intervening in the spring/summer semester. An additional research paper can be set for students who need to leave early, for example, in mid-December. Housing is in university residence halls. Part-time internships are available.
Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.
Participants in the Brockport Westminster Program will normally earn four credit hours for each course successfully completed at the University of Westminster, for a maximum of sixteen credits per semester.
Prior to their departure, participants in the LASP Program at the University of Westminster program will select four courses (with alternate choices) from the University's Study Abroad Module Catalogue. These courses should be chosen with the expectation that two of them will be substituted for a part-time internship after arrival at Westminster. But since we cannot absolutely guarantee such placements, none of these courses should be considered a "throwaway."
After arrival in London LASP participants will be placed in a part time internship arranged for them by the University of Westminster. These internships are traditionally (though not exclusively) in lieu of two courses, and thus are awarded eight credits.
