Overview
The University of Western Australia is the state's premier educational institution. The campus, with its distinctive Mediterranean architecture has established itself as a unique landmark. Extensive gardens, the University's art gallery, museums, theaters and sporting facilities are features of an exceptional campus. Participants will have the opportunity to enroll in regular university classes at the University of Western Australia. Prior to departure, participants select three or four courses from the courses available to study abroad students at the University of Western Australia. All instruction is by University of Western Australia faculty. Typically, fall semester runs from mid-July through November and spring from mid-February through June. Fields of study include liberal arts, and social sciences.
Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.
Participants in the Brockport/University of Western Australia Program will normally earn four or five credit hours for each course successfully completed at the University of Western Australia, for a maximum of sixteen credits per semester.
At UWA the emphasis is on independent learning. There will be less direction from lecturers, greater expectations of individual study outside classes, fewer assessments and heavier weighting on assessments. Students attend weekly lectures, which may be large, sometimes over 100 students. These will be complemented by weekly tutorials, seminars or laboratories and workshops where students will be expected to actively participate in discussion and debate with other students and tutors or lecturers.

Admission Requirements:
A prospective students should have:
Junior or senior standing by the start of the program.
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
A GPA of 3.25 in an appropriate major.
The demonstrated ability to do upper-division work in the subjects chosen.
