Looking for a creative choice, challenges, motivation and space to grow? Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, New Zealand's leading dedicated arts and design institution, offers stimulating pathways into arts and design careers for domestic and international students.

Whitecliffe provides an innovative, challenging and rewarding environment with low student-to-lecturer ratios that enable lecturers to focus on the individual needs of students; with 2007 also being their 25th year in teaching arts and design in New Zealand.

Lecturers are practicing artists, designers, administrators, therapists, educators and researchers who bring with them their expertise, networks and experience.

Courses are available for those who have not yet had any experience in the arts through our foundation, to those who wish to build upon their professional practise through completing a Masters Degree.

Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.  Level 4 - Certificate of Arts & Design (Foundation), Level 4 - Bridging Certificate of Arts & Design (Foundation), Level 5 - Certificate of Art and Design-1st year BFA exit qualification, Level 6 - Diploma of Art and Design-2nd year BFA exit qualification, Level 7 - Diploma of Art & Design (Advanced)-3rd year BFA exit qualification, Level 7 - Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree-four years, Level 9 - Master of Fine Arts, Level 9 - Master of Arts in Arts Administration, Level 9 - Master of Arts in Arts Therapy, Level 9 - Master of Arts in Arts Therapy (Clinical)

Eligibility
Bridging Certificate of Art and Design (Foundation) - A full time one year course. No formal prerequisites, as this course is aimed at preparing students with English as a second language for tertiary arts and design study in New Zealand. Students must turn 17 in their first year of study and hold an IELTS level of 4.5. / Certificate of Art and Design (Foundation) - A 20 week full time course. Students must turn 17 in their first year of study and hold an IELTS level of 5.0 if English is a second language. / Certificate of Art and Design - 1st year BFA exit qualification / Diploma of Art and Design - 2nd year BFA exit qualification / Diploma of Art & Design (Advanced)- 3rd year BFA exit qualification / Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (4 years) / Students enrol in our BFA regardless of when they plan to step out of the programme. In the first year students must hold NCEA Level 2 (minimum) or equivalent, preferably in an arts subject (this may be waived for students over the age of 20). Students will be asked to submit a portfolio of 14-24 creative works in an interview. If you have studied at another institute and wish to enter the BFA, you too will be asked to provide a portfolio and recognition of prior learning will be considered.

Whitecliffe does not offer on-site accomodation , yet being centrally located means options for long term stay are not far away. Auckland has many independently run hostels, some provide meals, and others allow students to cook for themselves.

Tuition Fees for New Zealand Residents Students 2008:

Annual - full-time, full year (Feb-Dec) - NZ $6,860.00 incl. GST
Second Semester - Certificate of Arts & Design (Foundation) only (Jul-Dec) - NZ $3,430.00 incl. GST
Certificate of Arts & Design (Foudnation) with English Language Assistance (Feb-Nov) - NZ $8,500.00 incl. GST

Tuition Fees for Overseas or International Students (i.e. not New Zealand citizens or permanent residents) 2008:

Annual - full time, full year (Feb-Dec) - NZ $18,725.00 incl. GST
Second Semester - Certificate of Arts & Design (Foundation) only (Jul-Dec) - NZ $9,362.50 incl. GST
Certificate of Arts & Design (Foudnation) with English Language Assistance (Feb-Nov) - NZ $16,300.00 incl. GST
