Overview
The Center for Cross-Cultural Study offers foreign study opportunities in Seville, Spain: Upper Division Spanish for ADVANCED LEVEL students or Intensive immersion for INTERMEDIATE LEVEL students. CC-CS also offers short-term intensive immersion programs during January, June or July. All programs feature a rich cultural component, homestays, student residences, and a full array of field trips, excursions, cultural events and social activities.
All classes (avg. class size: 12 students) are taught in Spanish by native professors. The CC-CS curriculum emphasizes intensive immersion with a focus on oral proficiency and writing. Semester students are required to sign and adhere to a Spanish-only contract within the Centers facilities and classrooms. Students can expect to leave the program with improved proficiency in Spanish. Qualified students have the opportunity to undertake an unpaid internship or may enroll in classes at University of Seville.
Your academic experience takes place in two classic turn-of-the-century mansions in the heart of Sevilles commercial and social district. CC-CS is a short walk from University of Seville and some of Spains most glorious and historic sites. These include the Cathedral and Giralda (the symbol of Seville), the Torre del Oro, the Alcαzar palace, many museums and the beautiful Guadalquivir River. Seville is also located within an hour and a half of the Costa del Sol and its sunny beaches. CC-CS led study tours are included at no extra cost.
The Center has been a social and cultural gathering place for both Americans and Sevillanos since 1969. Each year, more than two hundred Spaniards study English at the Center and participate in intercambios (language-exchanges) with American students. In addition to organizing the intercambio program, the Center actively promotes regular interaction of Spanish and American students by organizing social events and cultural activities such as outings to the theater, festivals and carnivals, art exhibits, concerts of classical and contemporary music, video presentations, and joint fiestas. Shared library facilities, study rooms, lounges and common areas at the Center together with home stays give American students an unparalleled opportunity to learn about the culture and language of Spain first hand.
