Overview
Language Link Russia offers 10 paid internships per year within its English as a Foreign Language teaching program. Participants usually come to Russia in late August, early September or early January, and for the first two weeks undergo an initial training program, receiving instruction on how to teach English as a Foreign Language (the communicative approach, lesson planning, supplementary materials, classroom management, etc.) They also have the opportunity to engage in peer and student teaching. On completion of the initial training period the intern-teachers start paid teaching of their own classes. They attend seminars and receive full academic support throughout the 9 month internship. This consists of 3 three-month blocks referred to as Blocks A, B and C.
Block A (Months 1 - 3): A two-week, classroom-based, Initial Training Programme (ITP), Practical Teaching (12 weeks), Regular seminars and workshops, Lesson observations, Weekly individual tutorials with a Teacher Trainer, One written assignment.
Block B (Months 4 - 6): Practical Teaching (12 weeks), Regular seminars and workshops, Lesson observations, Fortnightly academic support sessions with a Teacher Trainer, Group project, Provisional award of EFL Teacher status.
Block C (Months 7 - 9): Practical Teaching (12 weeks), Regular seminars and workshops, Lesson observations, Monthly academic support sessions with a Director of Studies, Award of the Language Link Certificate in TEFL to successful participants.

Eligibility
The internship is for non-TEFL certified applicants. Normally, this group is comprised of recent university graduates looking for both an international experience and the opportunity to develop skills as a Teacher of English to speakers of other languages.
Applicants should be at least 20 years old.

Program Costs
Teacher-Interns do not receive a salary during the first two-week Initial Training Programme (ITP). Although this programme is provided free of charge, participants must pay US$ 300 on arrival to cover the cost of accommodation. Please note that the standard of this accommodation is basic and will be in a shared flat. Similarly, interns should not expect western style luxuries or amenities. Teacher-Interns wishing to arrange their own accommodation during the ITP and/or thereafter may do so provided they alert Language Link’s Department of Human Resources one month in advance of their arrival or their decision to leave company-provided accommodation.
Costs
Include: Following successful completion of the Initial Training Programme, the teacher-intern receives a net monthly salary of USD 600 and a benefit package which includes company-paid income tax, company-provided accommodation, provision of medical services, holiday and sick time, full visa support, work permission and on-going academic support. Teacher-interns are also eligible for salary raises and benefits as described below.
Completion of Block A: On successful completion of Block A, teacher-interns who have demonstrated exemplary performance with regard to attitude, attendance, participation, classroom observations, student satisfaction and assignment completion will be accorded a FastTrack Teacher Recognition Raise (FTRP-1) of USD 150. Thereafter the teacher-intern’s net monthly salary will be USD 750.
Completion of Block B: On successful completion of Block B, teacher-interns who have continued to demonstrate exemplary performance as described above and who have satisfactorily completed the Group Project will be accorded provisional EFL teacher status and with it a second FastTrack Teacher Recognition Raise (FTRP-2) of USD 150. Thereafter the teacher-intern’s net monthly salary will be USD 900.
Teacher-interns who fail to complete their Block B project satisfactorily will remain on teacher-intern status until such time as they satisfactorily complete their Block B project. Once completed and found to be satisfactory, the teacher-intern will be awarded provisional EFL Teacher Status and move up in pay grade in accordance with the FastTrack Teacher Recognition scheme effective the first day of the next calendar month.
Completion of Block C: On successful completion of Block C and the Teacher-Internship Training Program, the teacher-intern (now provisionally an EFL Teacher) will be awarded a Language Link Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and with it confirmation that s/he has achieved full teacher status. Additionally, Language Link will offer the teacher-intern a travel allowance of up to USD 900 in reimbursement for, or to offset the cost of, his or her round-trip travel to and from the Federal Republic Russia provided an original round-trip ticket was submitted at the start of his/her contract. Teacher-interns who traveled to Russia on single (one-way) tickets are eligible for reimbursement of this ticket as specified above and may apply the remainder of the travel allowance to their ticket home.
Dates
The program lasts one academic year (9 months plus initial training) starting in late August, early September or early January. Applications should be submitted no less than three months before your planned arrival.
