Overview
Established in 1962, College Year in Athens offers a program of university-level study conducted in English, which takes advantage of the resources of Athens and of Greece at large. Program runs fall/spring/full year/summer. Semester or Year. Program is three levels of University courses in the humanities and social sciences are available in two areas: Ancient Greek Civilization & East Mediterranean Area Studies. Orientation is held in Athens; Students attend class at the CYA Academic Center or on site/in museums. Located in the heart of Athens, near the Olympic Stadium of 1896; the Center consists of a library and student lounge, classroom building, Computer Lab, Auditorium, Administrative Offices and a Roof Garden.
Living arrangements are done by the Program-students live together with other American students in apartments and hotels. A main meal is provided Mon Sat (for semester and year students). Study travel, within Greece, is a significant part of the academic program. Approx. 100 students/semester. Summer programs are 3 and 6 week courses which vary so check web site. Courses in modern Greek language, Drawing, Archaeology, Anthropology and Ancient Athens On Site for summer 2005. Student live in hotels/apartments with fellow students. Courses meet daily but there is time to explore Athens/the island as well.
