Overview
Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in over 30 programs throughout the world.
IES SANTIAGO Offers a rigorous program in cooperation with the Pontificia Universidad Catσlica de Chile and the Universidad de Chile, where IES students can enroll in courses to supplement the IES curriculum and join in local student activities. The IES Center is located at the Pontificiia Universidad Catolica, campus Oriente in Central Santiago. The IES Santiago curriculum concentrates on the twin themes of tradition and development in Chile and Latin America. Most courses focus primarily on Chile, and some courses address the Southern Cone and the Andean region in a comparative context. The core curriculum each semester consists of Art History, Anthropology, Environmental Studies, History, Literature, Political Science, and Sociology. All courses are taught in Spanish and most include a field study component, as well as the opportunity for service learning.
