Language of Instruction: native language speaker
Overview
Our school provides friendly, practical language courses to small groups of students. In fact, the maximum number of students per language class is seven. In English and French we offer 10 proficiency levels and in Spanish, Japanese and Chinese there are 6 levels. These can be taken intensively or on a part-time basis.
Another program offered is our internationally recognized teaching certificate. If the student is a native speaker (or can pass our proficiency test), they are eligible to apply for admission to our experienced TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), TFSOL (for French), TSSOL (for Spanish) or TJSOL (for Japanese) program. This is a 120 hour course, which provides extensive study of second language teaching methodology, as well as a practicum during which the methodology is applied in a real language classroom. The course also requires writing lesson plans, developing conversational activities, handing in a research paper, observing other teachers and being a teacher's assistant. Most students finish their course in 2-3 months, depending on their availability to complete the different stages of the program.
The school is both nationally and internationally recognized and is accredited by the Canadian Language Teachers Association and the European Union's TESOL Association, and holds an accreditation certificate issued by Emploi-Québec (Ministère de la Solidarité Sociale du Québec). We are also a member of CASLT (Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers) and the Canadian Education Centers Network.
