Overview
Ancient Pathways Southwest Semester Program is a 3-month residential immersion into traditional wilderness skills, native american studies, and Southwest natural history. The program is held in an outfitted wilderness basecamp near Flagstaff, Arizona and is available for college credit. We spend time in a region where three unique environments converge- the desert, mountains, and Grand Canyon, in addition to being surrounded by a wealth of archeological sites and present-day native american cultures. The program involves daily hands-on skills training in bushcraft and wilderness living as well as numerous fieldtrips and presentations by guest lecturers ranging from geology and ethnobotany (edible plant uses) to mountain lion ecology and indigenous peoples.
