Overview
The Campanario Biological Station offers academic credits through Lewis and Clark College and provides hands-on intensive field experiences and summer camps for those interested in immersing themselves in the lowland tropical rainforest and tropical marine world. We also offer regular vacational packages for the more adventurous tourist.
Courses and camps include reading, lectures, field work, group discussions and presentations in the natural sciences. The social sciences component includes an introduction to Costa Rican culture as it affects conservation of natural resources plus some introductory Spanish language training and cultural awareness. Participants hike, kayak, snorkel, explore and conduct field research in primary and secondary rainforests. These are intense "field trips".
