Overview
COURSE DESCRIPTION: One-Year Course [English / Italian]
Accademia Riaci, set in the heart of Florence, offers unique, quality, undergraduate art & design courses in various majors for emerging artists. Lessons are taught directly by qualified, leading Florentine artists, with tailored instruction of basic to higher level skills & techniques.
The course is designed for international students who wish to complete Riaci's 2-year basic course in half the time, and lectures and techinical studies may be assisted linguistically by an english interpretor for those in need. This is a unique feature found in no other art school. One-semester courses are also available for students with limited time. Upon completion of the course, students must pass the final exam to receive their Diploma.
SETTING: Accademia Riaci is located in the historical center of Florence, strategically situated between the Duomo and the Church of St. Lorenzo, and within a 3 min. walk from the Central Station. Students may easily walk to all major museums, or choose to spend a weekend at the crystal clear Medditerranean beaches in just an hour's train ride.
TIGHT STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO:Classes are kept small due to the teachers' request for close, equal attention for all students, in order to respect each student's learning style and speed.
FEATURED MAJORS: Jewelry Making, Interior Design, Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Shoe Design and/or Making, Bag Design and/or Making, Leather Art, Drawing & Painting, Painting Restoration, Ceramics, Glass Art, Apprenticeship.

Accademia Riaci has several "Student Flats" (shared apartments) reserved for the academy's students. Flats come with one or several rooms per apartment, and one room may be shared by students of the same sex, or reserved for a single student.
LOCATION: They are located in either a walkable distance or within a 10 - 15 min. bus ride away from the school campus, and may come with or without a host family. The definite location of the flat will be communicated to each student upon enrollment, by a week prior to the course commencement date.
FACILITIES: Bathrooms and kitchens will be shared with your flat mates. Basic cutlery, pots, pans will be available for student use.
STAY: Students are allowed to stay at the Student Flats up to 3 months. If their course exceeds this period (Basic, One-year, Semester, and Master Courses), the school will directly assist students to find a local apartment according to their likings and budget, while they stay at the Student Flats.

Financial aid have been available from private educational loan companies to past students. You may also apply for scholarship directly from Accademia Riaci.
SCHOLARSHIP BY ACCADEMIA RIACI:
Students may apply for scholarship from anywhere in the world. They may be eligiable to recieve coverage of the whole tuition or partially,depending on his/her artistic level. To apply, please send the following items to theadmission office or your nearest information center.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
*Accademia Riaci Application form
*1-2 pages statement objectives (Italian or English)
*Portfolio of 12 art works (prefferably on CD-ROM)
*A portfolio description sheet listing each piece by number, size, medium and the date completed.
*2-3 recommendation letters from faculty, work supervisor, or any authority with a close relationship.
N.B. You MUST write which course you are applying for. In case you don't write course name, your documents cannot be sent to the selection committee for scholarship.
