Overview
Are you looking for the opportunity to explore both France and the rest of Europe? Are you eager to discover what contemporary Europe is all about? Are you interested in participating in French life? If you are, then the Syracuse University Strasbourg program is for you. With its cafes and "vinstubs", museums and concert halls, monuments and parks, Strasbourg is a dynamic, exciting and cosmopolitan city.
It is also small enough for you to feel that you belong here, that you are not just a tourist. Situated in one of France's most beautiful regions, Strasbourg is a five-minute bike ride from Germany and a one-hour train ride to Switzerland. As the symbol of new Europe, Strasbourg is the home to the Council of Europe, European Parliament, and European Court of Human Rights. Coming from throughout Europe, Syracuse's faculty members are also professionals in politics, diplomacy and law.
The multi-country pre-semester "European Identity Seminar" introduces you to Europe through travel, lectures, and ecounters with politicians, teachers, and activists. Coursework is in English or French, and many internship opportunities exist at the Council of Europe and the community.
