Our undergraduate and postgraduate students are taught in small classes and thereby experience a highly personalised education of the highest academic quality that ensures our graduate have the skills to achieve success in their careers. The aim of the school of Foundation Studies is to help each student built essential basic skills that will be of great benefit in further academic studies and in their future lives. Programmes include English as a Foreign Language, English for Academic Purposes, Preliminary Certificate in Business Studeis, Certificate in Business Studies, and the University of Otago Foundation Year programmes, Travel and Tourism, and Information Technology programmes. (University of Otago Foundation Year) This 8 month programme gives successful students an excellent educational base for their future studies and a university entrance qualification which is recognised by all universities in New Zealand, most in Australia and some in the UK, Canada and the USA as meeting or partially meeting their entrance requirements. We also provide a bridging programme for students who can't meet the required English entrance criteria. Academic Credit Academic credit is available.  After completing a University of Otago foundation programme to the required standard, students are guaranteed a place in the University of Otago first year programme.
