Overview
Come and see for yourself what it is like to live "down under" on the world's largest island and smallest continent. Australia is a country as diverse as it is fascinating. Famous icons such as Sydney Opera House and Ayers Rock do scant justice to the richness of Australia's natural treasures, cultural diversity and its vastness. It is the native habitat for the kangaroo and the koala, some of the world's most interesting animals. Australia offers a wealth of experiences, from the drama of the outback and the spectacle of the Great Barrier Reef to the cosmopolitanism of Sydney.
Location
AYUSA students studying in Australia are placed with carefully matched host families. When attending the regional program, placements are made throughout Australia, and students attend public schools.
Program Highlights
AYUSA offers students a comprehensive arrival orientation to help ease the transition to living abroad. Group excursions and activities keep program participants in contact with one another and allow students to explore various cultural attractions in Australia. These trips are available for an additional fee and include a Victoria/ New South Wales trip, an Alice Springs/ Uluru trip, and others. Detailed information will be provided once students are on program.
Education
The education system of Australia is of international standard and is recognized worldwide. The range of subjects offered varies from school to school, and some schools specialize in areas such as music, arts, drama, languages or sports.
