Overview
Discover the vastness of Brazil. Almost everything in Brazil can be described by one word: large. It is the 5th largest country and occupies almost half of South America. It boasts 30% of the world's remaining rain forest, as well as the world's largest river, the Amazon. Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro rank among the 10 largest cities in the world. Come experience the rich culture and great natural reserve for yourself.

AYUSA students will be given the opportunity to join various group trips and excursions. The prices of these trips vary depending on length and number of cities visited.

Typical placement cities are Goiania (the Goias state capital), Curitiba (the Parana state capital), Santa Maria (in the state of Rio Grande do Sul), and Brasilia (the nation's capital).

Academic Credit

Eligibility
* 15-19 years old * 2.75 GPA or higher (4.0 scale) * Flexible and mature personality; desire to be challenged, ability to remain open-minded and tolerant of cultural differences.

Homestay / Host Family

AYUSA students are placed with carefully matched host families in Brazil. Typical placement cities are Goiania (the Goias state capital), Curitiba (the Parana state capital), Santa Maria (in the state of Rio Grande do Sul), and Brasilia (the nation's capital).

Costs Include:  Tuition includes: * Round-trip international airfare from closest international airport to your community * International round-trip airfare from a major U.S. city * Placement in a carefully selected host family and school * 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance throughout the program * Pre-departure and in-country orientations * Student Handbook * Assistance in obtaining a passport and visa * Supervision and counseling during the application process and throughout the program * Periodic progress reports * AYUSA T-shirt Prices as of June 2004. All prices subject to change.

Financial Aid
