Overview
This courses outline the art history of the Renaissance Period represented in Florence by the most important artists of the Florentine school. The masterpieces of the 15th and the 16th century are analyzed and understood. Among the artists featured are Giotto, Masaccio, Botticelli, Brunelleschi, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. In addition the lifestyle and philosophies of the artists are studied.
Because of its structure, this art history course can be considered as a deep introduction to general art history and particularly to Florentine history during the Renaissance. The teaching can be done either in a group or individually.
