Overview
A 3-month experiential Semester in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Our group of 12-16 spends two weeks building low-income housing for families in Fiji. In Australia the group is involved in a program of rugged outdoor conservation work, learns about the Aboriginal culture, and spends time at a Buddhist retreat center and Scuba dives on the Great Barrier Reef. The last two weeks of the semester are spent exploring the north and south islands of New Zealand - take in cultural and historical sites of interest and enjoy various adventures (rafting, horse-trekking, etc.) The semester is a great blend of learning, volunteer work and adventure. Spring: March-May; 2005: September-December. High school and lower-division college credit is available. Cost: $8500 - includes all program activities, food and lodging does not include cost of international airfare (up to $2400). Open to anyone age 17 or older.
