Overview
French Residential Immersion for High School Students. Our summer program in Aix-en-Provence, France, is designed for students completing grades 10-12. It is a pre-college program that focuses on French language and cultural immersion, as well as French cuisine.
The French language classes are taught by Abbey Road faculty; the curriculum combines classroom instruction, experiential learning and daily practice. The language courses are complemented by the residential immersion experience. Abbey Road students and staff live together in a centrally located residence where they learn to share house responsibilities, shop for groceries in local markets, and prepare group meals using traditional French recipes.
The program balances structured activities and free time. Abbey Road staff organizes recreational activities such as beach trips, tennis, hiking, parasailing and more. The program will also organize cultural and social activities such as concerts, museum trips, conversation exchanges, and movies. Plenty of free time is scheduled to explore the beautiful historic center of Aix-en-Provence, take advantage of great shopping, and enjoy the outdoor cafe culture.
The program also includes excursions to Avignon, Cassis, Nimes, and the Pont du Gard. The program also includes a 4-day travel extension to Paris where the group stays together in a modern, 3-star hotel within walking distance to key sites and monuments.
All academics, activities, excursions and the travel extension are included in the program fee.
