Overview
Residential Immersion - Italian Language & Culture for High School Students:
Our pre-college summer program in Sorrento, Italy, is designed for students completing grades 10-12 and focuses on Italian language and culture.
Students take courses in Italian conversation (taught at multiple levels). Previous knowledge of Italian is not required.
Students and Abbey Road staff live together in a small hotel overlooking the gulf of Naples. Students will learn how to live with a group of peers, in preparation for a successful college experience.
The program balances structured activities and free time. The program organizes recreational activities such as soccer, tennis, biking, swimming and beach trips. The program will also organize cultural and social activities such as concerts, museum trips, conversation exchanges, and movies. Plenty of free time is scheduled to explore the beautiful historic center of Sorrento, take advantage of the great shopping, and enjoy the outdoor cafe culture.
The program also includes day-trips and overnight excursions around Southern Italy, including Capri, Amalfi, Positano and Pompeii. Additionally, during one weekend of the program, the group will travel to Rome for three days.
All academics, activities, and excursions are included in the program fee.
