Overview
CLI Dante Alighieri, founded in 1965, is Italy's first private language school specializing in the instruction of Italian language and culture to foreigners. The school uses it own teaching methods, texts and general didactical material which have been developed in conjunction with the school's professors and staff. The texts and teaching methods developed by CLI Dante Alighieri are used in all its centers situated in Italy, in Florence as well as Rome, and its schools in Greece, in Athens, Kavala, Ioannina, Larisa, Patra, Salonica and Volos

The directors of the Centro in Florence are Dr. Gabriella Accorti Materassi and Dr. Alberto Materassi. Husband and wife, they are the founders of the school and have been fully devoted to it throughout the years. Alberto, Gabriella, and their son Stefano Materassi are extremely attentive that high standards are maintained academically as well as in the organization of cultural and recreational activities. Thanks to them, the Centro can be considered one large family whose harmony reflects that achieved in the life of the directors.

The Centro has its location in a 19th Century building with 16 large and fully equipped classrooms facing the Piazza della Repubblica, the heart of the city's historic Center. For the super intensive individual courses there are several well-equipped classrooms (three with telephones). Ample space is available for students between lessons. The School offers all the classrooms with a TV set, two large rooms (50 seats) with stereo video projector and a very large hall (100 seats) for recitals and lectures.

The Centro Linguistico Dante Alighieri has devised, after decades of study and successful experimentation on a vast range of students, an effective teaching method that leads to immediate results in the learning of Italian. This is achieved through the teaching of grammar and putting it to use immediately in conversational techniques, such as dialogue, question and answer, how to ask for information, oral resumes, etc. Particular care is taken to gradually enrich the individual vocabulary with idiomatic expressions of spoken Italian and the language of the workplace.

All the teachers are university graduates. They are specialized and have a vast experience in the teaching of Italian to foreigners. Whether in the individual or in group courses, the teaching techniques used by them, as well as the didactic material expressly developed by the School, allow for rapid and lasting results.
