Overview
The seventh annual Arizona State University Summer Program in Romania is a four-week session at the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca designed to give participants a comprehensive view of the rich and unique cultural history of Pre/Post Communist Central Europe. The classroom work of this traditional study abroad program (which include Romanian language instruction, Jewish Studies, and Pre & Post Totalitarian Studies) is complemented by an intensive program of guided visits to museums, historical sites, and other outstanding centers of Central European cultural heritage, and by a one-week cultural trip to the capitals of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.
Arizona State University undergraduate credit in Romanian language (3-5 credits depending on level); 3 English, FLA, humanities, or political science credits for Jewish Studies coursework; 3 English, FLA, humanities, history, political science, or women's studies credits for Pre/Post Totalitarian Studies coursework (3 credits). Arizona State University graduate credit in Romanian language (3-5 credits depending on level); 3 English, FLA, or humanities credits for Jewish Studies coursework; and 3 English, FLA, or humanities credits for Pre/Post Totalitarian Studies coursework. ASU credits are transferable to other U.S. colleges and universities.
Eligibility
Students who are not already enrolled at ASU during the academic year, must enroll for the summer as nondegree-seeking students (either undergraduate or graduate).

The program fees are $2,500.00 (subject to change).
Costs
Include: This includes housing, two meals a day, and organized cultural travel. Not included: Arizona State University tuition and fees and airfare.

Financial Aid and Scholarships are available for this program to full-time, academic year enrolled Arizona State University students. Non ASU students who are currently receiving Financial Aid from their home institutions may be eligible to apply their summer Financial Aid to this program.
Dates
The program takes place in Romania & Central Europe from July 5 - August 5, 2005. Students should apply for the program by February 2, 2005. However, applications will be accepted after this date until the program is full.
