Overview
Join World Endeavors for a unique semester or academic year abroad in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Explore Ireland and Irish culture at one of the leading universities in the UK. Choose from thousands of courses and earn academic credit while studying alongside Irish and British students. In less than a day’s journey from the University, you can venture out from Belfast to Scotland, England, Wales, or Ireland and explore all that this unique region has to offer.
Students can choose courses from a wide range of disciplines including the arts and languages, education, law, medicine, music, science and engineering, and social sciences.
Over 3,000 courses are available in nearly 100 subjects ranging from Accounting and Aeronautical Engineering to Women’s Studies and Zoology. Often international students can take courses that contribute towards their degree, but many also take elective courses.
The campus is located on the attractive south side of the city of Belfast. One of the city’s best known thoroughfares is the so-called ‘Golden Mile’. This area, right beside the campus, is packed with restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs and cinemas, and is popular with students and young people throughout the year.
There are an extensive range of student clubs and societies available to students. In addition, the campus offers some of the best sporting facilities for students in Ireland. Visiting students with an interest in sports will benefit from the unique status of the University as part of both the UK and Irish network of universities. Students who are able to make sports teams will have the opportunity to represent the University in British, Irish and even European varsity competitions.
Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.
Each student will take three to four courses for a semester. Academic credit and transcripts will be issued by the Queen's University after the successful completion of course requirements for the semester program.
Students are normally required to take three courses (called modules) in each semester, a total of six for the year, in order to have a full academic course load. Alternative assessment can be arranged for students who must leave before Christmas, thereby missing the January examination period.
Transcripts of all assessed work are issued to the student’s home college at the end of the Study Abroad period.
Eligibility
Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or equivalent to be eligible for the program.
