Overview
The NECA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Program has been developed to assist students (enrolled in 2-year or 4-year institutions) and Adults with academic merit and/or that do not have enough resources. NECA provides a unique scholarship opportunity to study in Florence, Italy, for a semester (Fall and Spring) and/or for the Summer program.

Unique and affordable opportunity to earn up to 18 credits for semesters and 6 (or 3) for Summer programs. Upper division courses. High academic standards and individual attention. Students choose up to 6 interdisciplinary courses per semester and 2 (or 1) for Summer programs from the following fields of study: Liberal Studies/Humanitites; Art History/Architecture/Studio Arts; Business/Economics; History/Political Science/Sociology; Italian Language/Italian Studies.

To apply for a NECA scholarship please send NECA via e-mail your on-line application from the NECA website and a 200-word essay stating how this abroad experience can enrich your academic career and why you want to study in Italy.

Examples of scholarships available:
Ike Relief Scholarship for Texas students; Iowa Flood Relief Scholarship; Katrina Relief Scholaship; Scholarship for NSCS members. NSCS is an honors organization in Washington, DC.

Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.  Academic credit is available. The transcript is included in the cost for students who study in the USA and Canada, and it is mailed by Daemen College, NY, USA, directly to the students' home institution.

Eligibility
To be eligible participants must have completed two semesters of college or the equivalent and be at least 18 years of age. For Special Enrollments (students at their freshmen year, recent high school graduates, or non-traditional students) NECA should first contact them and talk to them to understand if they are suitable to study abroad. Selection is based on academic achievement as well as seriousness of purpose and individual stability and maturity. The GPA (Grade Point Average) is important and it is requested on the on-line application form, but it is not the only issue taken into consideration. NECA also considers other factors to understand if a student meets certain requirements, both academic and non, to study abroad.

Accommodation is provided by NECA in an apartment in the city of Florence. Students have the following options at an additional cost: -board with a family with breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday. -a single room (limited availability, both for family home stay and apartment). Program Costs
Fall Semester: up to 18 credits. Scholarships available.

Spring Semester: up to 18 credits. Scholarships available.

Summer Program: 3-6 credits. Scholarships available.

Costs Include:  NECA application fee; NECA enrollment fees; Tuition; University transcript from Daemen College, NY, USA, sent directly to the student’s home institution; Housing in a furnished apartment or student residence (depending on availability); Pre-departure academic advising; Pre-departure travel counseling; On-site orientation program; Student assistance for visa application; Student assistance in Florence.
