Overview
Our School is an Italian language and cultural studies centre. We offer Italian language courses and Italian/Sardinian culture courses.
These last ones are addressed to the people who are particularly interested in studying some aspects of Italy/Sardinia's culture, such as literature, history, music, cinema and so on. Students learn Italian through study and through immersion in Sardinian culture, and explore the great names in Sardinian literature and film: Grazia Deledda, the 1926 Nobel Prize winner; Antonio Gramsci, a radical thinker and antifascist; and Gavino Ledda, a linguist whose 1975 memoir was translated into a film by the Taviani brothers.
Sardinan classes are also offered. As we are based in Sardinia, we think it is useful to study also Sardinian language and its fascinating culture. Sardinian (Sardu) is the main language spoken in the island of Sardinia, and is one of the most conservative Romance languages (like Catalan in Spain).
