Overview
Established in 1989, Antioch's Brazilian Ecosystems Program is the only study abroad program that enables students to engage in field studies across a variety of biomes in Brazil. Over the course of three months, students earn 16 semester credits while studying ecology, field methodology, and natural resource management. From lectures on restoration ecology to meetings with indigenous peoples and seminars with policy specialists, this program offers a complete overview of complex issues involved in conservation and natural resource managment.
Participants will enroll in four courses:
• Ecology and Biodiversity of Brazil
• Brazilian Natural Resource Management
• Portuguese Language
• Field Internship
Local professors, research scientists, graduate students and activists provide expertise on the issues of the region.
Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.
Students enroll in four courses that total 16 semester credits.
Eligibility
Participants must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study and have had one course in ecology.

Financial Aid
Yes.
Scholarship and grant resources are available upon request. Additionally, many students are able to apply for financial aid from their home institutions. The Higher Education Act (102-325) allows students to transfer and apply federal financial aid to study abroad. Early contact is advised.
