Overview
 Projects Abroad sends volunteers abroad to 17 countries to do internships and service projects. Since being founded in 1992, we have grown to a team of 130 people around the world that sends 2000 volunteers annually. Volunteers can go at any time, for as long as they wish.
Projects Abroad volunteers work in several orphanages in Bolivia, all in the Cochabamba area. You could be placed at a boy's home (40-60 boys aged 4-18yrs), a girl's home (80-100 girls, age 4-18yrs) or a general orphanage (33 children aged 4-15yrs).
For volunteers who don't mind being out of Cochabamba and working with a family, we can also offer you the unique experience of a foster home in the mountains. Here you'll live and work at a house with 14 children and rather few facilities.
Not all the children in these homes are orphans. Many have been taken into care, been abandoned or have been found living on the streets - occasionally involved in serious problems such as prostitution and drug abuse. They need a lot of care and attention.
In whichever placement you find yourself, you need to be ready for a challenge. Many of the children are desperate for attention and there will undoubtedly be children present who have psychological or physical health problems, who need special attention. Your main area of work will be helping with homework, crafts, music, art, sports - really anything you are interested in. You'll also need to teach the importance of hygiene, self-discipline and good communication. Some children don't go to school so basic literacy lessons (in Spanish) are also welcomed - let us know beforehand if you can help in this area.
At the general orphanage there is also a need for help with building and fixing up garden areas and playgrounds, as parts of the home are still under construction. Again, let us know if you can help with this.

Per Month: $2,295 for one month, $2,695 for 2 months, $3,095 for 3 months, $545 for each month after 3.
