Overview
Antioch Education Abroad has been sending students to study at Eberhard-Karls-Universität (Tübingen University) since 1958. This program encourages complete immersion while supporting the needs of American students abroad and is perfect for students who want independence and the opportunity to tailor aspects of their overseas studies to their own particular skills and interests. Students will learn what it is to live, work and study in Germany as Germans do. Emphasis is placed on pre-semester preparation, with four to eight weeks of language training at a Goethe Institute, followed by a four-week intensive orientation program through the university's German Compact Program. Students then spend one semester or a full year enrolled in university courses. Students will learn what it is to live, work and study in Germany as Germans do.

In Tübingen, Antioch program participants study with German students in classes taught by German professors. They enroll in courses at any level for which they have the background, choosing from hundreds of courses. Advanced academic work is available in all disciplines and there are special opportunities for students of the theoretical and applied sciences.

Student confidence in, and exposure to, German language and culture is further reinforced by the special nature of the program's housing arrangements. Rather than placing students in international dormitories, the program ensures that participants live in German student houses where German is the language spoken.

Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.  Student typically enroll in 24 semester credits for a semester program or 44 semester credits for the year-long program.

Eligibility
Any student in good academic standing with his or her home institution may apply. Two years of college-level German or equivalent competency is strongly recommended. Students must demonstrate their German language proficiency through courses listed on their transcript, an explanation in their Goals Statement, and/or a letter from a German professor/teacher/tutor.

Housing/Accommodation
Dormitory

Care is taken to avoid placing students in American clusters. Like all old German universities, Tübingen is not situated on a campus, and dorms are located throughout the town. A cash allowance is allotted for meals.
