Overview
Florence, one of the world’s greatest artistic capitals, stands as a treasure of the Renaissance. The paintings and sculptures of Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Donatello contributed to its artistic heritage. At the end of the seventeenth century, Bartolomeo Cristofori, an instrument maker for the Medici, invented the pianoforte. Modifications began in the eighteenth century until the piano became the instrument we all know today. St. Petersburg College, in association with “Art Under One Roof – The Art School,” an arts institute located in Florence established in 1989, is proud to offer the only Summer Piano Program in the birthplace of the piano.

This program is designed for piano students interested in immersing themselves in the world of musical learning and performance. Through an intensive schedule of lessons, supervised practice sessions, seminars, master classes, and performance opportunities, students will receive guidance and encouragement to advance in their musical careers. In this non-competitive environment each participating student will receive individual assistance to develop his artistry, overcome his difficulties, and achieve his goals.

In addition to weekly private lessons, master classes and piano literature seminars, participants will attend studio art classes and an introductory level Italian language seminar. Participants will also enjoy visits to the most important museums and monuments in Florence and day tours of the cities of Lucca, Pisa, and Siena.
