Overview
Projects Abroad sends volunteers abroad to 17 countries to do internships and service projects. Since being founded in 1992, we have grown to a team of 130 people around the world that sends 2000 volunteers annually. Volunteers can go at any time, for as long as they wish.
If you've ever fancied really getting away from it all, forget exotic beaches or desert islands, Mongolia is definitely the place for you. Forty per cent of the population are still Nomads who wander the endless steppe on camels and horses. Sign up for our Nomadic Life placement and you'll join a group of Mongolian Nomads as they travel across the steppe.
Living in a tent next to the main Ger (large round nomadic tent), your daily life may include riding horses, caring for livestock, helping to produce dairy products and teaching a little English. It's a great way to learn more about this ancient way of life and how it's being affected by modern-day Mongolia. In exchange for help with the animals and some English lessons the family you'll stay with are keen to involve you fully in their way of living.
