Overview
The Master in Tourism Destination Management corresponds with a previous tourism related course. For 40 years the NHTV has been offering a Bachelor in this area: ‘Hoger Toeristisch en Recreatief Onderwijs’ (Higher Tourism and Recreational Education). Within HTRO, since 1991 there has been an international course called International Tourism Management Consultancy (ITMC). This course focuses on research and managerial functions situated in an international tourism destination applicable to all sectors of the work field as set by HTRO. The new Master course links up directly to ITMC – It builds on the course and intends to deepen it.
The Master in Tourism Destination Management will combine explicit skills and a practical ‘hands-on’ mentality, increasing knowledge of the development of tourism destinations. It will also stimulate a problem solving independent attitude as well as professional analytical skills.
The aim of this Master course is to offer graduates the starting qualifications for independent and/or managerial professions and functions at management and consultancy levels with private, public or non-profit organizations or institutions in the tourism sector.
