Overview
Italian Language & Cuisine for High School Students:
Our pre-college summer program in Bologna, Italy, is designed for students completing grades 10-12 and focuses on Italian language, culture and culinary arts.
Students take courses in Italian conversation (taught at multiple levels) as well as Italian cooking. Previous knowledge of Italian is not required.
Students and staff live together in two centrally-located private apartment complexes in Bologna.
This program emphasizes Italian cuisine: students will have the opportunity to participate in cooking demonstrations and then apply their knowledge when preparing group meals.
Students learn to share house responsibilities, buy and prepare their own food (using traditional Italian recipes) and to prepare group meals; they will also eat out on occasion.
The program balances structured activities and free time. The program organizes recreational activities such as soccer, tennis, biking, swimming and beach trips. The program will also organize cultural and social activities such as concerts, museum trips, conversation exchanges, and movies. Plenty of free time is scheduled to explore the beautiful historic center of Bologna, take advantage of the great shopping, and enjoy the outdoor cafe culture.
The program also includes day-trips and overnight excursions around Northern Italy, including Florence, Parma, Rimini, Verona and Venice.
All academics, activities, and excursions are included in the program fee.
