Overview
Semester and year-long, experiential programs in Japanese language, culture and history. Students may also conduct independent studies in Teaching English as a Second Language, martial arts, flower arranging, Shiatsu, photography, creative writing, and many other subjects.
Fall courses: Japanese Language, East Asian Studies, Writing Workshop, Buddhist Studies, Japanese Film, Independent Study, Internship. Spring Courses: Japanese Language, Behind the Mask: Alternative Japan, Creative Writing, Writing Workshop, Interactive Web Publishing, Photography, Independent Study, Internship.
Kyoto, the cultural center of Japan, is surrounded on three sides by mountains with a magical maze of approximately 1,500 Buddhist temples, 200 Shinto shrines and myriad esoteric gardens. The East Asia Center is located behind the famed Kinkakuji Temple (The Golden Pavilion).
