Assist the foremost children’s charity working in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. Their goal is to find permanent workable solutions for children whose families are experiencing difficulties. Their services are constantly subject to evaluation, auditing and modification based on the latest research outcomes. Their services include: • Foster Care and Adoption • Respite Care (TFC) • Family Crisis and Planned Weekend Care (TFC) • Family Support • Special Neighbours • Counselling • Domestic Violence Program • Child and Adolescent Sexual Assault Program • Mentoring Programs • Kids Friends • Help with Homework Group • Homelessness • Adolescent Community Placements • Semi supported Accommodation • Child Care • Long Day Care • Family Day Care • Occasional Care The intern will be working at the Children’s Family Centre. He/she will be primarily be based in the Childcare department assisting in the day-to-day care of 50 2-5yr olds from approximately 26 different cultural backgrounds, with the majority being from low income families. Duties will include helping organise and run all of the programs and recreational activities for the children. There will also be the opportunity for the intern to spend part of his/her time on other programs such as those for the homeless and disadvantaged teenagers. He/she will have a very hands on role, within which he/she will learn about various aspects of social work, child care, counselling and working with the community. This is an example of a Social Work Internship. However, Global Experiences' internships are arranged based on your preference in terms of internship area, as well as your past experience and academic background. We will find an internship to suit you rather than matching you to one that already exists.
