Overview
The goal of the Chinese Language and Ethnic Studies program is for participants to gain understanding and insight into the rich diversity of Chinese society by focusing on the Chinese ethnic minorities and the construction of Chinese identity through an ethnographic lens. This goal is achieved through three specially designed core courses, a ten-day fieldwork component, Chinese language coursework, Chinese peer tutors, group excursions, and directed individual exploration throughout the greater Beijing area.

Costs
Include: The CIEE fees for 2008-09 include an optional on-site airport meet and greet, tuition, housing, orientation, full-time program leadership and support, cultural activities such as concerts and museums, field trips to such locations as the National Minorities Park and the Temple of Heaven, pre-departure advising, visa fees, and a CIEE iNext travel card which provides insurance and other travel benefits.
