Overview
The Scholar Ship is a recognized academic program aboard a transformed passenger ship hosting both undergraduate and postgraduate students on semester-long voyages around the world. Participants from diverse cultural backgrounds come together to co-create a transnational learning community that develops their intercultural competence and fosters lifelong friendships.

The Scholar Ship embarks on a semester-long journey around the world twice a year, commencing each January and September. Itineraries vary from voyage to voyage, but all are planned to provide engaging learning experiences through a port program that complements the curriculum onboard.

Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.  On behalf of the Consortium, Macquarie University has been designated to award academic credit and issue academic transcripts to students who successfully complete The Scholar Ship program. Students are strongly encouraged to consult an appropriate university administrator on their home campus to confirm that these credits may be counted towards their degree or graduation.

Eligibility
Undergraduate applicants must demonstrate proof of completion (or anticipated completion) of a minimum of one year of university study prior to the voyage. Postgraduate applicants must have earned (or anticipate earning) a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) prior to the voyage. All applicants for whom English is not their native language must demonstrate proficiency in English and be prepared to succeed in a rigorous academic environment. Preference is given to students whose academic results are above average in their nation’s system. International Baccalaureate Diploma graduates who have not yet commenced university study are nevertheless eligible to participate in the TSS undergraduate program. Subject selection is restricted to the two Core and two specified first-year level General and Business subjects. Some advanced subjects require a prior level knowledge in order to enroll. Students applying for admission to the Postgraduate International Business Learning Circle must have an undergraduate background in business. (See website)

Financial Aid
Yes. The Scholar Ship is strongly committed to having a high-quality student population that is diverse, both culturally and socio-economically. To achieve this goal, we have created a general fund to help make the opportunity of a lifetime a reality for everyone interested and qualified to participate in The Scholar Ship program. Students requesting financial aid directly from The Scholar Ship, who are citizens and/or permanent residents of the United States, and who attend an institution in the United States are required to submit their FAFSA to our Student Accounts Department by fax at +1 443.378.7456 or by post to: Student Accounts Department The Scholar Ship 841 East Fort Avenue #238 Baltimore, MD 21230-5117 USA
