Overview
VENUSA was founded in 1987 by individuals who felt that a greater contact and understanding was necessary between North and South America. At its inception, VENUSA was established as a private institute dedicated to international studies and modern languages, and over the years has grown to satisfy a wide variety of interests.
VENUSA is located in the beautiful city of Mιrida, nestled in the heart of the Venezuelan Andes. Though its student body has grown dramatically over the years, VENUSAs goal remains what it has always been: the promotion of greater international understanding through education, and the development of interpersonal relationships between its students, both Venezuelan and North American.
VENUSAs core curriculum includes Spanish and English, as well as Latin American Studies to include history, social sciences, life sciences, and economics. One of the ways in which VENUSA seeks to provide total immersion in the culture and language is by having participants live with local families. A special asset of immense value to the intercultural experience is that VENUSA also operates as an institute teaching English as a second language. Its students provide a ready-made group of Venezuelans eager to interact with North Americans. VENUSA takes full advantage of this by arranging conversation exchanges, social events, debates, and cultural activities.
The VENUSA experience will help students develop and improve their Spanish skills, learn about the Venezuelan culture, and strengthen the bonds of friendship and understanding between cultures. Participants will also gain knowledge and experience in international relations, which will help them confront the challenges of a vast world.
STUDY ABROAD IS A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE
Time spent overseas opens a window to a world of new experiences and challenges old preconceptions. International study brings fresh perspectives to career choices, politics, economics and human relationships. Study abroad will show students how interdependent our world is, teaching first-hand the necessary skills for cross-cultural communication.
VENUSA is registered and accredited by the Ministry of Education of Venezuela.

Housing/Accommodation
Homestay / Host Family
Past participants in the program uniformly agree that the highlight of their stay was becoming a member of a Venezuelan family. Generally, Venezuelans possess an incredibly warm and kind-hearted spirit and are very open and helpful. Nearly all families have hosted program participants before. All have been chosen for their genuine interest in sharing Venezuelan life with a visiting program participant.
Each student is matched with a family based on preferences and requests. three daily meals, double or single private rooms, a private lockbox for valuables / documents is provided. The homestay family will also meet each student ar Mιrida's airport upon arrival (along with the Nuevos Encuentros group).
Through interaction, the homestay family is a vital link to the social and cultural life of Mιrida.
