Overview
High school students study abroad in France taking language classes at the Langue Onze School in Toulouse while living with a local homestay family. There are usually two ECI students per family in Toulouse.

French classes take place in the morning, and afternoons include recreational and cultural activities such as beach trips, kayaking, hiking, concerts, museum trips and more. Weekend day-trips to nearby towns are included. Participants live with families near the language school.

Toulouse is a dynamic university town in southwest France. It is known as “La Ville en Rose” because most of the buildings have been built in red brick for over 2000 years. Toulouse is also France’s aeronautics and space exploration capital and the birthplace of the Concorde high-speed airplane. This modern edge, combined with a rich history and diverse population, make Toulouse an ideal place to study French. Students are generally placed together with another ECI student during the Toulouse homestay.

This program also includes one week of immersion with a host family in Montpellier, a beautiful, sunny southern French coastal town on the Mediterranean Sea. Students do not take classes during this week, but rather spend their time with their carefully chosen host family. Host families often have a son or daughter of a similar age and who are excited about sharing their homes and lives with an American teenager. Students truly experience the daily life of their host families during this special week and generally stay one per family.
