Overview
Home stays and Volunteer programs can be arranged in typical Nepali villages with different ethnic group and most touristy and remote areas of Nepal. Participants will be placed with a Nepali family in a small rural village. This provides the volunteers with an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of Nepali culture, lifestyle, language, food and people.

Volunteers should remember that this is a cultural exchange and that an effort to offer some knowledge of their own home culture and customs to the family with whom they stay is expected.

Participants in the program will not go through training in Nepal with the other volunteers. During their home-stay, volunteers will attend 2 hours of language lessons in the morning and in the afternoon. They will also have the opportunity to visit different areas of interest. They can participate in different cultural program around village.Volunteers can involved in project work besides this. Most of our project in Village so we encourage to volunteers to stay village.

Duration of Program: 2 weeks- 5 months

The above costs include the following:

• Transportation to and from Kathmandu Airport.
• Transport to and from the Kathmandu to Pokhara
• Accommodation and main meals during training period and placement.
• Language and cultural information classes.
• ACDF staff visits to placement.
• Contribution to ACDF projects e.g.
• Health post
• Back to School program child care center "sarangkot"
• Community learning center
• Public Library
• Scholarship for the poor dalit tribes children.

Your additional Financial Responsibilities

You will be responsible for your fight ticket to Nepal and visa fees which are follows (check with your embassy for the latest fee structure):

• $ 30 USD for the first two months.
• $ 30 USD per month thereafter for a maximum of 5 months per year.
• Water purification tablets and / or good quality water purifier
• First aid kit.
• Flashlight (torch)
• Penknife
• Books about your country
• Photos of your family / friends / home (essential !!)
• Souvenirs for you family and staff from your country.
• A few examples of your local currency
• Music CDs
• Basic Learner's English / Nepali / English dictionary - for simple definitions (buy a Nepali dictionary on arrival in Kathmandu)
• Magazines
• Coloured pencils and pens, drawing books, stickers.
• Inflatable globe
• Books on teaching English / English Grammar for you reference

In a typical placement volunteers stay in a family where they eat
Nepali food with the family twice a day (around 9 o' clock in the morning and
7 o' clock in the evening). Tea is served in the morning and in the
afternoon. Volunteers may have the opportunity to get together with other
volunteers and share their experience. You will be able to travel to nearby towns to
purchase things for daily use and could travel to other areas on longer
vacation. Besides your project work, volunteers can utilize their spare time
in organizing the youth and women's groups of the community to do some
worthwhile activities like building a smokeless stove, toilet by using
local materials, making a soak pit, kitchen gardening, making a solar dryer,
garbage management or paper recycling.

* What skills are required of volunteers?
Public speaking skill or some teaching experience is good.

Accommodation-Host families house according to volunteers intrest we have 200 different houses in Village and city .
Meal-Volunteers should share from family .Mostly it is Nepali food Daal and Bhat .
Transpotion- There is public bus in every village
Comminication- There is phone and somewhere internet facilities in Village
Placement- Placement may be village or city or Terai according to volunteers intrest.

We do make a special effort to tailor your volunteer experience to suit your
interests and abilities.

there will be a representative of ACDF Nepal upon your arrival to the
Kathmandu Airport, will be waiting outside airport lounge holding a
placard with ACDF Nepal and your name on it.

On arrival at the airport you will need to get a visa which is $30 US for
two months. To speed this process up we recommend you take passport
photos, please carry along at least 6 photograph. You will also need the money in US dollars.
