Overview
This summer, the University of Utah has a 6 week program in Tianjin, China at Nankai University. Nankai is one of the top universities in China, the Chinese equivalent of Princeton. The teachers are great and the class size is small, so students are very happy with the instruction. In 6 weeks students can earn 9-11 credit hours, that is, a year's worth of Chinese language credit plus an upper-level culture course taught in English. Students need have no language experience to go; instruction is available from first year (beginning) through third year (advanced) Chinese language. The rooms in the guest house for the students in the program are newly done and quite comfortable. The program also includes three excursions, including Chengde (a summer resort) and the Great Wall. At $2,460 it's quite a good deal.
