Overview
The Study Abroad Program will be headquartered in the city of Fortaleza in the Northeast of Brazil and the courses will be hosted at the Faculdade Integrada do Ceara (FIC), which is a college of over 12,000 students. The college offers a variety of courses and offers degrees in a wide range of fields including law, computers, and journalism. The college is accredited by the Brazilian ministry of education, and is well-respected institution in Brazil. Students in the Study Abroad Program will attend classes at the campus of FIC and take Portuguese classes and two other required classes that will be conducted in English. Also students will be required to participate in volunteer work. All work will be evaluated and students will be given a transcript from FIC at the completion of the program.
The Study Abroad Program will focus on some of the major political and socio-economic issues that impact Brazil. The course takes a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding the complexities that make Brazil the country that it is. Not only will the course draw resources from several disciplines: history, anthropology, sociology, Political Science, and economics, but a good part of the course will take place in the field. Students will be taken on several field trips and will be introduce to Brazilians from all walks of life.
Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.
Students will be given a transcript from the Faculdade Integrada do Ceara, a school which is accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education.
Eligibility
All students must be enrolled in college and completed at least a semester of college with a G.P.A of 2.5 or better. An official transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a one-page essay stating why they want to study abroad in Brazil.

Students will be placed in home-stays, or will have the option to rent apartments. Students will be entitled to three meals a day if they choose the home-stay option, but students who choose the apartment option will be responsible for their own food.
During overnight or extended travel students will stay in Pousada or Hostels. All meals will be included during excursions
