All courses offered in the SummerSchool@UA program are regular, academic credit courses taken by Canadian students towards the completion of their own degrees. The program couples courses with field trips/excursions to historical or contemporary sites of interest. Themes or topics may vary from year to year but have included Canadian and Native Studies, Sport and Tourism Management, Forest Ecology Field School, Outdoor (River or Mountains) Explorations. and Energy Studies. Scholarships are available for international (non-Canadian) students. Application deadline March 1 or May 1 depending on semester start. Spring (May-mid June) or Summer (July-mid August). Eligibility minimum 1 year college or university with a minimum 2.0 GPA or satisfactory standing. English language proficiency of 3 years of school where the language of instruction was English or a TOEFL computer-based (or equivalent) score of 237 points or higher. Housing/Accommodation • Dormitory University residences. Private room with private bathroom. Shared kitchen. Program Costs Approximate cost to students completing the program in summer 2007 was $5000 cdn. Costs Include:  This include tuition on 2, 3 credit courses, food budget, accommodation, textbooks, health insurance coverage and extra curricular activities. Financial Aid Yes. Scholarship offered based on number of credits registered. Participants in 2007 received up to $2000 cdn each. Dates Spring semester 6 weeks beginning of May to mid-June each year. Summer semester 6 weeks beginning of July to mid-August each year. Deadlines March 1 for Spring start. May 1 for Summer start.
