Overview
Aix-en-Provence is a center of culture, art, academics, and a place of amazing beauty. This small city of approximately 137,000 people is located in southern France in the region of Provence. Provence, one of the wealthiest regions in France, is bordered by the Mediterranean on its southern coast and offers hot summers and mild winters. Provence averages 300 days of sunshine a year, creating light and warmth throughout this southern region of France.
ASA offers programs at two institutions in Aix-en-Provence: Le Centre d'Aix and The Marchutz School of Art. All students live with French host families who provide daily breakfast and 6 dinners per week. Students can earn up to 18 credits per semester and 6 credits during the summer session.
At Le Centre d'Aix classes are taught in English or in French. The curriculum is broad, offering archeology, art history, studio art, French language, French literature, French civilization, European and international studies, social sciences, business, comparative literature, economics, education, government, history, philosophy, political science, and psychology. Founded in 1957 under the auspices of l'Universitι d'Aix-Marseille and chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York, Le Centre d'Aix is one of the oldest institutes in Europe for study abroad.
The Marchutz program is an intensive and well-rounded studio art program that allows students to also take one French class and one art history elective of your choice. The Marchutz School welcomes students with any level of French and any level of studio art background - from students who are majoring in art to those who have never picked up a paintbrush.

For example, most colleges/universities will allow you to apply your federal grants or loans to go abroad, but not your scholarships or university grants.
ASA also awards scholarships ranging from $250 - $1,250 every year. To be eligible for a scholarship, you must submit the Scholarship Application Form at the same time you apply for the program. The application form must be accompanied by a 1,000 word essay and a demonstration of financial need.
