Overview
The Centro Fray Luis de Leon and the Piccola Universita Italiana offer a summer program in June in Tropea, Calabria. Tropea is the 'Pearl of Calabria with breathtaking beaches and countryside. Students can take for Audit or College Credit classes at all levels in Italian language. Centro students also take a class taught by Dr. Ferreiro titled, Late Antique Eastern Mediterranean (in English). Students earn a total of 11 quarter credits, 6 in Italian and 5 in upper division History. Centro students will go on excursion to Pompeii, Messina-Taormina (Sicily), Reggio Calabria, Locri-Gerace, Castles-Churches of Calabria, and 3 days in Rome. Students desiring college credit will receive an academic transcript, in English with letter grades. For a full description of the program visit our website.

Academic Credit
Academic credit is available.  Students will receive 6 quarter credits of Italian language and 5 quarter credits of upper division history for the course Late Antique Eastern Mediterranean. An official academic transcript will be provided for those seeking college transfer credit.

All of the housing has kitchens for students to cook their meals thus saving a great of money for their food. They all have private bathrooms and all ammenities are included. They also have views of the ocean or the countryside. The beach is but 5 minutes away. Consult the Piccola website for more details.

Program Costs
$6, 000.00, excluding food allowance, ranges from $800 to 1,500, depending on ones eating habits

Costs Include:  Includes base airfare Seattle-Lamezia Terme (Calabria), roundtrip transport Lamezia Terme-Tropea, Tuition, books for all classes, academic transcript, excursions to Pompeii, Reggio Calabria, Locri-Gerace, and Rome (3 days, breakfast and museum fees), Castles-Churches of Calabria, Language and History classes, Italian conversation class, Italian cooking class, farewell dinner, health insurance and emergency catastrophic care insurance, transport to Rome airport on date of departure, and the Piccola offers more as part of the price- see their website ofr details (it is in the Centro site)
